Guitar for the ears, whiskey for the mouth.

April 5, 2009

I’ve neglected this space now for long enough.

Tonight I’m drinking a glass of whiskey and listening to country music from my big sister. I’m new to country other than Lyle Lovett and Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton. I’m new to new county.  Most of it sounds like a party (“Beer in Mexico”) , so I kind of like that. The slow songs verge on cheese but maybe now that I’m getting older and letting down my guard a little, I can relate to some of them. But hey, when did Darius Rucker become a country singer? I still thought he was with Hootie and the Blowfish. I’m out of it.

I’m a SUPER PROUD father of 3 beautiful children:  5 yr old girl, 3 yr old boy and now a 6 week old boy. Their mother, my amazing wife, is asleep upstairs now as are all three young’uns. Just seemed like a good time for country music in my headphones and a glass of whiseky (no ice) by a dim lamp downstairs.

There’s just something good and easy about a clean-sounding acoustic guitar being strummed into your ears with the taste of whiskey in your mouth.

Listen up…
